Navigating Uncertain Times in Ideation

Navigating Uncertain Times

Startup founder uncertain of the idea

When someone wants to start a business, they usually have a problem to solve already! Wise people advised me to build a Proof of Concept (PoC) during weekends while still working at my job. However, that didn’t feel right to me. I chose to give 100% to my startup and take full responsibility for the results.

I also had a problem to solve, but mine was initially B2C and had to pivot to B2B. I needed to find a problem that customers were willing to pay to solve. This period was very vague and time-consuming! I looked through my LinkedIn connections and tried to reach out to customers and partners I had worked with. I am grateful to everyone, including the Country Head and CIO of Citrix India, who provided valuable connections and feedback on what I was doing. I acknowledged my inability to deliver an elevator pitch effectively; I was still learning as a founder, undergoing on-the-job training without pay.

I am especially grateful to Mr. Mike Molson and Mr. Oved Lourie for sharing their valuable time. During this period, I started to figure out the cap table, shares, and ownership. More on this in future posts.

I aim to write 101 posts on startups and ActOnMagic. Stay tuned!
