On Sunday, I attended a one-day acupressure workshop conducted by the Yantra Foundation in the Haralur area of Bangalore. The session, led by Sasidharan ji and Praveen Ji, ran from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and turned out to be a surprisingly eye-opening experience.

Before diving into the practice, the facilitators shared the vision of the Yantra Foundation — a 22-year-old non-profit founded by Prof. K. Ravindran, who was trained under Vethathiri Maharishi and Dr. Devendra Vora, the author of Health in Your Hands. The foundation is spreading awareness about natural healing, acupressure, and simplified yoga.
What struck me most was the simplicity of acupressure. It’s astonishing that something so effective — and completely free of side effects — is still overlooked in favor of allopathy. Even a ten-year-old could learn to apply pressure on key points to relieve everyday discomforts.
As I practiced during the workshop, I couldn’t help but connect it with my earlier initiation into Reiki. Both draw from the same source — the body’s innate intelligence and life energy. The so-called placebo effect is not “just imagination.” It’s a reminder that the real healing power lies within the body itself.
With the blessings of my Gurus, I could sense the spiritual depth behind this science. It’s not merely about pressing points; it’s about awakening awareness — of energy, balance, and self-healing.
In today’s world of instant pills and quick fixes, learning acupressure feels like returning to common sense. I’d strongly recommend that at least one person in every family learn this art.
Healing begins right at our fingertips.
Interestingly, in my children’s book “I’m Strong, Bro!”, I had written about alternative medicines and naturopathy. After this workshop, I know exactly what I’ll be adding next — Acupressure.
